Religious Education

RE is taught following the Leicestershire Locally Agreed Syllabus. The units, which are all based around a question, come from the syllabus and have been planned to ensure they cover all of the key themes set out in the syllabus. RE is taught in 3 two-week blocks spread out across the year and is taught in the afternoons. There is an additional week which focuses on Christmas.

Each year group should aim to go to at least one religious building or have a visit from a religious leader.

At North Mead Primary Academy, we celebrate the following festivals:

  • Harvest
  • Diwali
  • Christmas
  • Chinese New Year
  • Easter
  • Vaisakhi
  • Eid

Each year group learns about the festivals and their importance. They also either make something to do with the festival, write something about the festival or learn a song about the festival and share this in a whole school celebration assembly.

Collective Worship happens in classrooms from 3:00 – 3:15 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The focus of collective worship sessions could include:

  • Religious Stories
  • Singing
  • Big Questions
  • World Events
  • Reflections
