At North Mead Primary Academy, we are proud of the achievements of our pupils. Our performance outcomes reflect our commitment to high-quality teaching, an ambitious curriculum and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Reading
Reading continues to be a significant strength at North Mead Primary Academy.
In 2026, 92% of pupils achieved the expected standard in reading, with 54% achieving the higher standard.
In addition, 100% of Year 6 pupils had a reading age of 9 years or above, demonstrating the positive impact of our approach to developing reading skills and fluency.
Please note: The reading-age figure is based on the school’s NGRT assessments and is separate from statutory Key Stage 2 assessment outcomes.
Writing
Our writing outcomes demonstrate consistently strong attainment, with pupils performing above national figures at both the expected and greater depth standards.
In 2026, 83% of pupils achieved the expected standard, compared with 73% nationally.
A further 34% achieved greater depth, significantly exceeding the national figure of 13%.
These outcomes reflect our commitment to developing confident, capable writers who can communicate effectively across the curriculum.
Mathematics
Mathematics remains a strength at North Mead, with pupils achieving outcomes above national figures.
In 2026, 88% of pupils achieved the expected standard, compared with 75% nationally.
At the higher standard, 44% of pupils achieved greater depth, compared with 26% nationally.
Our approach focuses on developing mathematical fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills, ensuring pupils have secure foundations for future learning.
Reading, Writing and Mathematics Combined
Our combined Key Stage 2 outcomes demonstrate the strength of teaching and learning across the core curriculum.
In 2026, 81% of pupils achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics combined, compared with 63% nationally.
At the higher standard, 32% of pupils achieved greater depth, compared with 8% nationally.
These results represent one of our strongest areas of performance and reflect sustained success in supporting pupils to achieve highly across all three core subjects.
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling
Pupils at North Mead continue to achieve strong outcomes in Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS).
In 2026, 80% of pupils achieved the expected standard, compared with 74% nationally.
At the higher standard, 44% of pupils achieved greater depth, compared with 30% nationally.
These outcomes reflect the importance we place on developing secure language knowledge and applying grammatical understanding accurately in pupils’ written work.
Early Reading and Phonics
Early reading is a key priority at North Mead, providing children with the essential foundations for success throughout their education.
In 2026, 83% of Year 1 pupils met the expected standard in the Phonics Screening Check, while 89% of Year 2 pupils achieved the expected standard.
Our focus extends beyond achieving success in the phonics screening check. We are committed to ensuring children develop into increasingly accurate, fluent and confident readers who enjoy reading and can access learning across the curriculum.
Multiplication Tables Check
Multiplication fluency continues to be a strength at North Mead, with pupils demonstrating secure recall and understanding of multiplication facts.
In the 2026 Multiplication Tables Check, 42% of pupils achieved full marks (25 out of 25), while 94% scored 20 or more.
The average score was 23.1 out of 25.
These outcomes demonstrate the strong foundations pupils develop in multiplication knowledge, supporting their confidence and success in wider mathematics.
Early Years Foundation Stage
At North Mead, we recognise the importance of providing children with the strongest possible start to their education.
In 2026, 69% of children achieved a Good Level of Development by the end of Reception.
Our Early Years provision focuses on developing the knowledge, communication skills, independence and positive learning behaviours children need to make a successful transition into Year 1 and beyond.
Through a nurturing environment, purposeful learning opportunities and high expectations, we aim to ensure every child is supported to thrive.
Attendance
Attendance at North Mead has improved significantly over the last five years, reflecting our continued commitment to supporting pupils and families.
In 2026, whole-school attendance reached 95.8%, an increase from 93.2% in 2022.
Over the same period, persistent absence reduced from 24.8% in 2022 to 8.2% in 2026.
This represents an improvement of 2.6 percentage points in attendance and a reduction of 16.6 percentage points in persistent absence.
