Together We Make a Positive Difference
North Mead Primary Academy is proud to be part of The Mead Educational Trust (TMET), a multi-academy trust serving children and communities across Leicester and Leicestershire.
TMET was formed in 2014 and now includes 16 schools: eight primary schools, six secondary schools and two special school.
The Trust’s mission is: Together We Make a Positive Difference.
That shared purpose sits at the heart of North Mead too.
Being part of TMET
North Mead is part of a wider family of schools working together to improve education for children and young people.
TMET’s approach is built around collaboration, shared responsibility and the belief that schools are stronger when they learn from one another.
Being part of the Trust gives North Mead access to:
- school-to-school support
- shared expertise across primary, secondary and specialist education
- professional development for staff
- leadership development
- Trust-wide safeguarding and governance support
- specialist operational support
- shared systems and resources
- opportunities to collaborate across schools
TMET describes its ethos as “our schools” rather than “my school”, reflecting a collective responsibility for pupils across the Trust.
A shared commitment to education
TMET exists to make a positive difference to the life chances of children and young people and to the wider community.
The Trust is committed to providing:
- pupils with access to a high-quality education
- schools with strong school-to-school support
- staff with high-quality professional development
- communities with schools that contribute positively beyond their own gates
TMET schools share common values and core systems while retaining the flexibility to respond to the needs of their own pupils and communities.
#Mead2030
TMET’s current long-term strategy is #Mead2030.
It is organised around three strategic pillars:
- Education
Ensuring children and adults continue to learn, develop and benefit from high educational standards. - Community
Strengthening the Trust’s contribution to the communities it serves. - Growth
Growing responsibly and collectively so that schools and pupils benefit from being part of the Trust.
The strategy is underpinned by TMET’s seven values: Character · Challenge · Community · Collaboration · Culture · Creativity · Courage
Professional learning
Staff across TMET benefit from professional learning through the Mead Institute of Professional Learning.
The Institute supports teacher training, professional qualifications and continuing professional development for teachers, leaders and support staff across the Trust. It also encompasses the Leicester and Leicestershire SCITT and Teaching School Hub.
For North Mead, this means our staff are able to learn with and from colleagues across a much wider educational community.

The Mead Educational Trust is a single legal entity with several layers of governance, including:
- Members
- the Board of Trustees
